The Venal Muses Immersive Art Experience by Tutsy NAvArAthnA in Itakos Gallery, Virtual Worlds . Opening on september 2017
I made this video as intro of the Virtual Arts Exhibit by Tutsy NAvArAthnA, a french artist located in India/France who works on New Media Arts in several ways: Digital Photography and Machinima, over all. The content displayed in this short teaser, are his own imaging; I ‘d just only chose the music of the video teaser, trying to reveal the “female voice”; and the edit, made using After Effects and Final Cut.
Invite you to visit the exhibit and the author’s links ( added down )
The Venal Muses – Exhibit info: “Poets, painters, photographers, writers, filmmakers and musicians were all inspired by the atmosphere of brothels and their venal muses. Some, like Toulouse Lautrec, have even made it the essential part of their work. But painters like Degas, Manet, Derain, Munch, Georges Rouault, Van Dongen, Vlaminck, to name a few of the most celebrated, portray ladies of little virtue lounging on a sofa in the rooms of their lupanar.
This also allowed them to forge a new pictorial language, the provocative compositions, the caricature style and garish colors. Diverting the classical nude, the different pictorial movements each use this subject allowing them a “rebellion” as Charles Baudelaire calls it, which aims not only to criticize their society but also the condition of treatment of these girls, women above all, to revolutionize the codes of representation, and even create new ones.
Naturally, Pablo Picasso is not to be outdone. It is the universally known painting, as founder of Cubism, which was caught in the spotlight: initially denominated, the bordel of Avignon in its first sketches, The Demoiselles d’Avignon, is in effect considered one of the major works of contemporary creation.
Why would “virtual venal Muses” escape the attraction of artists?”
“I do not believe in the art which is not the compulsive result of man’s urge to open his heart.” Munch
